Further possible versions of the cycle include a combination of the above-mentioned layouts with the use of divided multi-stage compression or expansion with intercooling or interstage reheat. A connection using multiple cascaded cycles can be advantageous when used with high heat potential sources, or even more complex solutions can be employed using multiple turbine or compressor units. However, these options are only rather theoretical, as more complicated cycle connections and the use of extremely high inlet temperatures lead to very expensive solutions that are not economically viable.
