A simple sCO2 cycle is made up of a compressor, heat source, expansion turbine with generator, and a cooler. This cycle is shown in the following diagram. It is very simple and has a relatively low efficiency. Due to its simplicity, it has been chosen as the emergency residual heat removal method for the HeRo project. However, it is unlikely that this simple configuration will find an application in traditional power plants.
